Our first certified organic and fair-trade coffee! We are very excited to bring this to you as a testament to our commitment to improving livelihoods and global coffee farmer prosperity. All of our coffees are progressive in one way or another but certifications can elevate a coffee-growing region, demanding higher prices and improving livelihoods with it. This coffee is big-bodied, with good structure and tangy acidity.

These farmers are located on the slopes of Rwenzori mountains, bordering the Virunga National Park. Virunga is Africa's oldest national park, established in 1925, and is one of the last refuges of the mountain gorilla and other species. The economic well-being of the farmers goes hand-in-hand with the sustainability of the region. A variety of initiatives are being put forth, to include a hydro-electric damn in the area that will provide electricity, greatly reducing the need to cut into the forest for firewood. Through investments in the area in infrastructure and education the farmers and becoming knowledgable stewards of this vital eco-system.
This coffee comes from one of two co-operatives in the region, the Kawa Kanzururu. The European Union is directly invested in these farms, working with them to provide sustainable farming, crop diversification, and cash generation directly to the people, by the people.
