Finca Lerida is a community-managed, award-winning farm with a deep and interesting history. An engineer on the Panama canal, Tolleg Monniche, purchased this farm in 1924 and began working and implementing novel engineering solutions. In 1929 they were the first in the world to export coffee to Germany which sparked the frenzy for Panamanian coffee that continues to this day.
In 2010 Grupo Pomelo, a Panamania tourist group purchased the farm. Sonia Amoruso and family live and operate the farm in the lush forest surrounding La Amistad National Park in the shadow of Volcan Baru. They continue the legacy and continue working in harmony with the protected forests and wildlife.
Flavor notes: Caramel, Chocolate, Toasted Almond
Varietals: Caturra, Catuai
Process: Fully washed
This coffee has a medium body with floral aromatics and a sweet chocolatey taste.
Personally, we are excited to bring this to you as Josh (CEO) grew up in the region and recalls making the Volcan Baru climb as a young boy. He spent many years riding his horse to school and ranching with his father in the Bongo region just south of Boquete where this coffee originates.
